Strategies and recommendations
Smart-A will develop guidelines for all relevant
stakeholder groups, based on the scenarios developed in the work on
overall potential.
For appliance manufacturers,
guidelines will be developed for the future design of smart appliances
in order to support an improved integration with sustainable energy
options such and load management.
For producers of domestic energy supply systems,
guidelines will help with future design of such technologies in order
to support improved integration with smart consumer loads.
For electric utilities, the
guidelines will help to integrate consumers with smart appliances in an
active management of loads in the networks, and to create incentives
through tariff structures.
For large-scale producers of electricity from renewable energy sources, the project can help to acquire balancing power from consumers I order to level out intermittent electricity generation.
For policymakers, the role of active
participation of domestic energy consumers in the management of loads
in the energy networks, which will face increasing shares of
intermittent generation, will be assessed. Recommendations for
incentives from governments will be developed and needs for further
research will be identified.
For consumer organisations, the
potential role of consumers in active management of loads and the
possibilities for reduced dependency of consumers on supply from energy
networks will be assessed and recommendations for activities in the
consumer field will be developed.
For standardisation organisations
like the CENNELEC technical Committee TC59X, recommendations for
extension of their standards will be given to cover the requirements of
connecting energy supply systems with domestic appliances.
For providers of information systems
to enable the connection and to enhance the performance of connected
systems valuable information on the business case will be provided.
SMEs may gain information on providing physical links between
appliances and energy systems for additional services.
